Ishan Simkhada is currently pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering at Pulchowk Campus. He has a strong passion for research and innovation, especially in areas like sustainable infrastructure, waste management, and urban flood control. Over the past few years, he has been actively involved in various student organizations and technical clubs, where he has taken up leadership roles, coordinated events, and contributed to impactful projects.

His academic work includes researching the reuse of plastic in bitumen for road construction, and he is also working on developing sustainable waste management models and bioswale systems to address urban flooding. He has participated in mentorship and fellowship programs like the Trailblazer Fellowship, Sustainability Mentorship Program, and One Million Leaders Asia, which have helped him grow both personally and professionally.

Outside of academics, he enjoys networking, volunteering, and taking part in extracurricular activities—from event management and design to playing sports and exploring creative hobbies. He believes in continuously learning, staying curious, and contributing meaningfully to any space he’s part of.

OMLAS Experience: "The OMLAS Fellowship has been a transformative journey, allowing me to explore leadership through a lens of self-reflection and collaboration. It has transformed how I view leadership in engineering. Connecting with inspiring peers across Asia showed me that sustainable solutions require more than technical skills they demand listening, adapting, and inspiring others. The fellowship taught me to approach problems holistically, blending engineering with sustainability and leadership to create lasting impact. I’m excited to carry forward this mindset, designing solutions that are practical, inclusive, and environmentally conscious.”
