Mohammad Omar is from Logar Province, Afghanistan, and has always been driven by a passion for learning and making a positive impact in his community. After earning his bachelor's degree in economics from Kabul University, he embarked on a journey that has taken him through various professional and volunteer experiences. During his internship with the Asia Foundation, to Promote Women's Scholarship/Education Program, he gained valuable insights into the importance of empowering women through education. This experience fuelled his commitment to promoting gender equality and education access in Afghanistan. He believes that every individual deserves access to quality education and strives to create opportunities for marginalized communities to thrive.
Currently, he serves as the General Manager at Union Lese Maryam Business Centers and Bazaar. His role allows him to combine his passion for business development with his commitment to social impact. In 2019, he was honored to receive appreciation from the Administrative Office of the President for his academic article titled "The Lapis Lazuli Route: Economic-Political & Cultural Effects." He presented this research at a regional conference at Kabul University, highlighting the interconnectedness of economic and cultural factors in regional development. Additionally, he volunteers with the Youth for Youth Organization as a research committee leader and serves as a core member of the Climate Environment Youth Initiative network. These roles allow him to engage with youth-led initiatives that address pressing environmental and social issues. Driven by a desire to create positive change and empower marginalized communities, he aims to contribute to a more equitable and sustainable future for Afghanistan through the OMLAS Project opportunity, leveraging his skills and experiences.
