Serénia Maria Leia has completed her bachelor's degree in Public Health at Dili University. Currently, she is working at a national organization named Dalan ba Naroman as an Administration and Finance Officer. She also leads a youth volunteer group named YCC (Youth Community Care), with a mission to increase capacity building and reduce environmental issues. The group provides training in various areas for students and organizes youth and local community activities every weekend to collect rubbish on riverbanks and beaches, campaigning and raising awareness about a healthy environment.
She will be focusing on plastic pollution/zero plastic as part of her OMLAS Project because one of the major environmental problems in her country is plastic pollution. She aims to manage existing waste, especially plastic waste, for recycling and market access. She will be targeting Sustainable Development Goal 13: Climate Action.
Serenia says, “I am very happy to have had the opportunity to become one of the Fellows of OMLAS because through OMLAS, I have met many expert leaders and learned a lot about how to become a leader and a successful entrepreneur. The experience I gained from OMLAS, including Transformation Leadership, Leadership Keys, Exemplary Leadership, Leadership Language, Team Leaders on Stage, and Social Entrepreneurship, has really helped me realize my dream of becoming a young leader. Thank you, OMLAS. I hope it continues to prosper and helps create more leaders in Asia and the world.”
