Waqas Idrees, is an electrical engineer with a passion for energy systems, particularly in introducing more sustainable energy sources into Pakistan's current energy mix and developing transparent energy markets. He currently serves as a senior energy specialist on USAID's power sector improvement activity. Waqas holds a Master's in Energy Systems from Northeastern University/Massachusetts Institute of Technology, which he completed on a Fulbright Scholarship. In addition to his work in the energy sector, Waqas is deeply committed to youth empowerment and education accessibility. He actively supports initiatives aimed at providing education to every child,having worked with internally displaced people, refugees, and impoverished children to provide them with education and life skills necessary to develop their foundational, meta, and humanistic skills. For the OMLAS project, Zeeshan aims to leverage the transformative power of visual arts to empower youth in Pakistan. This initiative will encourage young people to explore and express their concerns about sustainability issues impacting their lives through various artistic forms, including videos, animations, comics, and poetry. The project will include an in-depth training program covering the basics of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and nurturing participants' creative expression. It seeks to represent youth from diverse regions of Pakistan, providing them a platform to voice the challenges they face, often ignored by decision-makers. The project will be executed across strategic locations in Pakistan, engaging youth from varied economic and educational backgrounds. The outcomes will be showcased through limited-edition coffee table books and social media campaigns aimed at raising awareness during COP29 and beyond.

He aims to address key Sustainable Development Goals; SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 5: Gender Equality, SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities, SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, SDG 12: Responsible Consumption, SDG 13: Climate Action, SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
